Wanderlust

If you could tell your younger self something what would it be?

Invest in Apple, Google-- *yawn* boring.

None of the above. It's simple.
Always be hungry.
Never stop being curious.
Make mistakes. Mistakes are proof that you are trying.
Do what makes you happy.
Be the best you, you can be.
Follow your heart, it wants what it wants.

In my early twenties I had an insatiable hunger to feed my curiosity. To pacify it, I bought a ticket to Italy and went on an adventure. I followed up after with a solo trip to France and London. It was a challenge I happily took. I was nervous and made plenty of mistakes along the journey and got lost many times, but intern I found me. It was a humbling experience that taught me many things about the world and myself. I really got to know me.

Some years later, that insatiable thirst which came with youth diminished. Responsibility, growing up, maturity; were words that surrounded me. Having turned 30 in 2013 I found the bucket list I wrote in my teens. The fire that was dormant for so long roared back to life. The touch of the notepad on which I penned my list, transported me back. Perhaps it's true 30 is the new 20.

I believe everything happens for a reason and in its own time. I had done the things I was meant to. Finish studying, found a job in my field, pay mortgage, buy a car, took care of my family, fell in and out of love. All of which I am very proud off. Every year is a merit badge I wear with pride.

Choices you can life with + Choices that feel right for you = No regrets.

I don't believe in regret, and can honestly say hand on heart I regret nothing. My life took the course it did so I would become the person I needed to be today.

In my twenties I felt my possibilities were infinite. That feeling narrowed with age. But somehow my Peter Pan complex has resurfaced and the feeling of excitement has returned with more possibilities than ever. Mortality is my constant companion who reminds me we are fleeting energies in this realm. Opportunities haven't dwindled with time, I changed. I have never felt more free than I do now.

If I could tell my younger self something I would say--thank you. Thank you for taking the wrong turns, for making those mistakes, for loving like you were never hurt, for reminding me I can get up from every fall and to follow my heart.

Do whatever makes your heart skip a beat and whatever makes it feel full.

To live will be an awfully big adventure -- Peter Pan

I've been very lucky to embark on some great adventures. Feeding my wanderlust is a very addictive, humbling experience. I encourage others to be an addict.
All photos are my own. *Wallpaper is designed by me with my own images inside the frames.

What's on your bucket list?

The Mona Lisa
My obsession with art, history and Dan Brown collided and had me on a dizzy high when I saw this masterpiece. It was a lot smaller than I expected.

Build an epic sand castle
Move over the Taj Mahal.
This architectural wonder is 2.5 by 3m. It took 5 minutes of brainstorming to design and 3 hours to construct.

Hand feed a giraffe
Yes I got it do it. It wasn't in Africa but Taronga zoo was just as good. They have eyelashes to die for.

Random Fact: Giraffes sleep an average of 1.9 hour a day.

Wow and I complain about getting 5 hours of sleep a night.
Get a tattoo
I was suppose to this in India when I went. But I haven't made it there just yet. So an Indian festival is close enough.

Random Fact: Henna is the Persian name for a shrub. It's a small flower ranging from yellow to pink, its leaves produce a red dye. The leaves are harvested, dried and ground to powder.  Henna contains a hennotannic acid, a dye that bonds with the collagen in skin cells and keratin of fingernails and hair, leaving behind a red colouring.

Go cherry picking
Simple, but thoroughly enjoyed it. I think I ate more than I picked

Random Fact: Cherries belong to the rose family

Buy a car
I'm so scared of commitment and finally committed to something. I finally did it after years of preferring to leave the country I bought 'Ash'.

Random Fact: 90% of people sing behind the wheel...

guilty. I think I'm Mariah Carey when driving :/
See the Sistine Chapel in person
This is the corridor leading to the Sistine Chapel. No photos or video are permitted in the chapel itself as it a sacred room. But here is my proof that I was there :)

Random Fact: Michaelangelo thought working on the Sistine Chapel was so unpleasant he wrote a poem about his misery.
"My painting is dead.
Defend it for me, Giovanni, protect my honor.
I am not in the right place—I am not a painter"

The true work of art is but a shadow of the divine perfection...
Michaelangelo

Put my hand in  the La Bocca Della Verita - Mouth of Truth
Robert Downey Jr romanced me in Only You. That movie cemented my love affair with Europe. When I landed in Rome La Bocca Della Verita, was the first place I needed to go. Legend has it that if you told a lie while your hand was inside the mouth, it would be bitten off.
Well I still have both my hands today -- I'm angel ... or a very convincing liar. ~fixes halo on head~ ;)

Di il vero e affronterai il diavolo
Speak the truth and shame the devil

See the Eiffel Tower

Who doesn't haven this on their list?
I arched my neck as I alighted my train at the Gare de Lyon station. Trying in vain to get a glimpse of it. Photos do not do it justice. The Eiffel Tower has no bad angles, and is photogenic in every light from any angle. #Jealous!
August 2005 I was speechless and not satisfied with just one visit. So I returned in 2009.
You know the saying everything happens in threes...

A coeur vaillant rien d'impossible
to a valiant heart nothing is impossible
